From the CASA IED project at Rho Fiera Milano to events and installations in the districts of the city curated by Istituto Europeo di Design
An interior design project that reproduces a sleeping area where different elements of home design are placed. This is CASA IED, the initiative with which Istituto Europeo di Design participates in Milan Design Week in the spaces of the Salone del Mobile.
The idea stems from the desire to tell IED as if it were “home”, a space where we can find our identity, bring our culture, meet and become contaminated on a creative level. Here, a selection of projects realized by IED Alumni, who are now professional designers, finds its place.
Simultaneously, there will be ten events in the historical districts of the Fuorisalone having IED projects as their protagonists.
The first is the inauguration, at Fondazione Vico Magistretti, of the performance FUORI CATALOGO capitolo 2 – quando il sound design parla all’industrial design (‘OUT OF CATALOGUE chapter 2 – when sound design communicates with industrial design’), dedicated to a selection of objects by Vico Magistretti no longer in production, but still able to inspire new stories and echo again. These objects are reinterpreted with a sound installation by the students of the Sound Design course coordinated by Painè Cuadrelli.
Among the other initiatives related to IED, we can mention the project THE CARREFOUR’S NEIGHBOUR aimed at designing new display layouts and retail systems for the Carrefour Express store of via Bezzecca, Milan (the winning project will be announced on April 20th, at 5.30pm, Corso Garibaldi 49). In addition to this, there will be also the presentation of ‘Pillola di felicità’, box-lamp created for a capsule collection of precious flat pumps designed by Anna Baiguera, exclusively displayed and sold in the BigApple Design space.
IED will also take part in the DESIGN PRIDE, the most pop street parade of the Milan Design Week, in the 5vie district on April 18th, at 6pm.
