The famous architect Stefano Boeri will be the president of the Triennale, Milanese landmark for design
Only the final appointment by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage is missing, after which 61-year-old architect Stefano Boeri, will be officially the new president of the Milanese institution of design culture and contemporaneity.
The position had been vacant for a year, since the death of Giancarlo De Albertis, replaced ad interim by the deputy-president Clarice Pegori Giraldi. The name of Boeri, after the confirmation of the mayor Giuseppe Sala, already ran in the city gossip, but still had to overcome well-known competitors.
The internationally known Stefano Boeri, is also deeply rooted in the Lombard metropolis. His innovative skyscraper Vertical Forest, in the smart Porta Nuova district, has been awarded as the most beautiful and innovative skyscraper of the world by the Council on Tall Buildings of the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. Later his green skyscrapers have ‘grown’ from France to Holland; while in China Boeri has created the project of the City Forests.
In the past, he has been a major contributor for the same Triennale, as well as a councilor for culture for the Municipality of Milan and one of the architects of the Expo 2015 masterplan; currently he is engaged in urban planning projects in a majestic plan of urban regeneration. In other words, he has all the cards to keep the Triennale’s name high as a designated place for planning for Milan, Italy and the world.
