An exhibition that aims at going beyond the boundary between art and design, promoting a constructive dialogue between design and culture, towards a new aesthetics.

Within the XII Edition of the “Premio Nazionale delle Arti 2016/17 – Sezione design” (National design award, section “design”) entitled Future is Design, the major exhibit “Builders of Tomorrow – Imaginare il futuro tra arte e design (“Imagining the future between art and design.”) will be held at MIC’s (Faenza’s international Museum of Ceramics), from 28 September to 25 October 2017. The exhibit in-depth analyses the useful cooperation between art and design in compliance with the new millennium’s needs, increasingly focused on the production of objects and systems able to give an aesthetic yet ethic experience of the world.

By creating space installations where the works of art dialogue with design products made from varying styles and materials, including ceramics, the exhibition path will be based on the works of major contemporary and well-known designers, including: Vito Acconci, Andrea Anastasio, Meris Angioletti, Salvatore Arancio, Rosalba Balsamo, Nanni Balestrini, Becky Beasly, Sonia Biacchi, Renata Boero, Gregorio Botta, Andrea Branzi, Chiara Camoni, Marc Camille Chaimowicz, Stefano Casciani, Tony Cragg, Matali Crasset, Enzo Cucchi, Riccardo Dalisi, Nathalie Du Pasquier, Formafantasma, Martino Gamper, Marco Gastini, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Piero Gilardi, Paolo Gonzato, Konstantin Grcic, Sheila Hicks, Christian Holstad, Giulio Iacchetti, Emilio Isgrò, Ugo La Pietra, Claudia Losi , Ugo Marano, Anna Maria Maiolino, Franco Mello, Alessandro Mendini, Mathieu Mercier, Bruno Munari, Luigi Ontani, Giulio Paolini, Mimmo Paladino, Claudio Parmiggiani, Gaetano Pesce, Gianni Piacentino, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Andrea Sala, Denis Santachiara, Francesco Simeti, George Sowden, Sissi, Heim Steinback, Ettore Sottsass, Superstudio, Patricia Urquiola, Marcella Vanzo, Joe Velluto.

The setting has been made according to the concept and aesthetic assonances of the different works, highlighting the contaminations, dialogues and common visions of the last time.
