THIS IS AN EASY-GOING YET INTRIGUING WORKSPACE, ENRICHED BY TOUCHES OF ART, WHICH EVENTUALLY CONVEYS A TYPICALLY INDIAN SENSE OF CALM
The interiors of a great office accurately mirror a company’s core values, its ethos and, of course, its strategic objectives, while aiming at crafting a lively and efficient workspace for the employees. Taking this approach forward, Group DCA designed a creative and conducive workspace in Gurugram for Nando’s, the renowned international food chain.
Group DCA is an architectural and design practice based in Sultanpur, India and established in 1996. It provides services in Architecture, Interior design and Design Coordination, focusing on a skillful balance of talent, experience and hard work across a wide range of building types including workspaces, residences, retail and hospitality and targeting at design excellence, innovation and customer satisfaction, while enabling brand identities.
The new Nando’s headquarter – an international casual dining restaurant chain originating in South Africa – covers a total area of 377 square meters. A long linear floor plate is planned with North-South orientation that funnels people inside, from the open, wider reception to the more private, meeting rooms inside. The reception narrows into a lobby that unites all the disparate spaces. Dividing the long linear corridor into a series of interactive spaces, the monotony is broken by arranging the working and open areas in a manner that the corridor always seemed interesting. This layout provides for lots of open, co-working and individual spaces.
For the finishing, the firm led by Amit Aurora and Rahul Bansal opted for engaging color effects and contrasts, such as the exposed bricks walls, the warm wood nuances, or the brightly colored sofas of the conversation areas.
Nando’s as a brand, supports an art foundation that is a patron and collector of Southern African Art. Therefore, the art pieces on the walls have been exclusively from this foundation. Spot lights hanging from the ceiling above help to draw attention to the display and facilitate an energetic mood.
