THAT’S THE NAME OF THE NEW EXPERIMENT MADE BY BENTU, ON SHOW AT THE SALONE DEL MOBILE OF MILAN.
Bentu, is an independent design brand founded in 2012. An innovative brand that loves to experiment and to explore. Indeed, its latest project is defined by the brand as a sort of experiment whose motto is “Material regeneration will be the most profound humanistic care in the future” and that is on show at the Salone Internazione del Mobile of Milan up to April, 9. The experiment focuses on the recycling of ceramic wastes, with the aim to giving them a brand new life.
Foshan, China, boasts the world’s largest ceramic industry and, at the same time, it has a very high level of environmental pollution which is also due to the 4 million tons of ceramic waste per year. All ceramic wastes are transferred to small villages, where they are used to fill ponds or dumped illegally because the cost of disposal is high. The problem is that these non-degradable materials constitute a serious problem for nature, for example they can affect the growth of vegetation or pollute the water: problems which cannot be ignored by human beings. That’s the reason hidden behind the Ceramic Made project: to transform all the wasted ceramic tiles into something new, something that could be put back into use. An example? A piece of furniture which can be produced in a large scale.
