FOR JUST ONE MAGICAL NIGHT, CORSO COMO 5 IS TURNED INTO THE NEW ITALIAN VERSION OF THE BARBIE DREAMHOUSE.
The Barbie doll has been for a long time – four generations – the focus of dreams and phantasies of young girls. Nonetheless, the Barbie’s lifestyle is not simply fashion, rather authentic design. As for instance the popular Barbie’s houses – from the Dreamhouse (dating back to the 1962), to the Townhouse equipped with elevator (1974).
For over fifty years, Barbie’s Dreamhouse has been an iconic place, as well as one of the most sought after toys in the world. The first Dreamhouse made its debut in 1962, revolutionizing the way of playing with dolls, and making the Ruth Handler vision come true. The designer of Barbie sees in the fashionable doll and its accessories, the mean that allows little girls to imagine and build stories of real life while playing. Since that moment, each new model mirrored the historic period in which the house was built, thanks to unique architectural elements and interior design details, up to the latest model.
Gabriele Pardi is an architect, designer and a father. He is connected to the IDA network, the agency that promotes Italian design in the world. His daughter Alice dreams of being an architect too, just like her dad. Father and daughter together have built in Alice’s bedroom a Barbie Dreamhouse. Gabriele decided to make a very special surprise to show her that every girls dream can come true! The Corso Como 5 building in Milan will turn into a real Barbie Dreamhouse during the most glamorous and innovative week of the year, the Design Week!
